Position Overview:
The post holder as an experienced professional with knowledge on clinical informatics (Cerner) and engagement strategies which will be required to form a liaison between the Clinical team and Clinical informatics Manager.
The post holder will be key in ensuring communication and training needs related to Hospital Information system reaches out to end users. Provides proactive support to clinical team including, but not limited to, training and education strategies.
Undertake regular complex audits and surveys to measure the success of implementation strategies through the design, testing and implementation period and engage with research opportunities as they arise. Demonstrate evidence of post graduate education and training accountable for decision making for the organization leading the development of the digitalization of clinical documentation and will work collaboratively across King’s organization to improve patient care, experience and outcomes through the development of high-quality information, systems and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates in training and supporting end users with regards to Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Coordinates, develops and participate in Clinical Education Programs specific to the HIS
- Actively identify problem areas, or areas in need of improvement, regarding clinical documentation.
- Assists in analyzing the impact of HIS on clinical workflow.
- Analyses documentation for compliance to maintain standards and to clarify data in conjunction with patient safety.
- Actively participates in the auditing of documentation for monitoring and reviewing of clinical quality relating to HIS.
- Effectively orient all newly joined clinical members on the documentation requirements of the hospital.
- Interprets and analyses datasets and reports.
- Attends and participates in clinical conferences and study days to maintain clinical licensure requirements in order to enhance the ability to advise and develop on clinical documentation, practice and processes.
- Collaborates with personnel from different department/disciplines regarding issues that may negatively impact patient care; facilitate solutions as needed
- Participates in committees, task forces that are interdisciplinary or interdepartmental.
- Builds relationships with staff, peers and colleagues to support interdisciplinary and interdepartmental planning, aimed at improving patient outcomes.
- Promotes continuity of care that is patient centered, outcome oriented and focused towards discharge planning.
- Perform hospital rounds to assess, identify problems, determine solutions and guide teams in clinical and operational management of services.
- Liaises effectively with other health care providers both internal and external to the organization.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of patient, family, and organization information in accordance with the confidentiality policy
- Uses information technology to access, transmit and produce information as necessary.
- Supports a culture of performance improvement.
- Support accreditation activities.
- Audits compliance with organizational documentation standards.
- Monitors and supports the organizational Key Performance Indicators and Clinical Indicators and reinforces corrective action to improve clinical service.
- Develops and achieves annual performance criteria/goals in conjunction with the Line Manager.
- Attends and participates in the orientation and other hospital-based programs as agreed with the Line Manager.
- Maintains and updates own professional development through relevant educational activities.
- Initiates action and reports to the appropriate manager, when staff behavior and/or performance does not meet professional standards.
Education, Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification is required
- Has worked within an appropriate service environment within the last 2 years.
- Communication skills – able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions. Adapts communication style as necessary and demonstrate good soft skills to manage tasks.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Health Informatics or EMR support preferred.
- Hands on Experience on Cerner build, and solution design preferred.
