Cast Technician

Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Cast Technician is responsible for applying and removing casts and splints in various departments of the hospital, including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Operation Room (OR), Emergency Room (ER), and Inpatient Ward. This role ensures that patients are provided with high-quality orthopedic care, contributing to their recovery and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

Outpatient Department

  • Apply and remove casts and splints as prescribed by physicians.
  • Ensure patient comfort and care during the procedure.

Operation Room

  • Assist in the application and removal of casts and splints during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain sterile environments and follow infection control protocols.

Emergency Room

  • Provide quick and accurate application of casts for trauma patients.
  • Coordinate with the medical team to address urgent orthopedic needs.

Inpatient Ward

  • Monitor and manage the cast needs of hospitalized patients.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of casts for long-term orthopedic patients.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in casting and splinting procedures.
  • Certifications: Medical or nursing technician qualification.
  • Required Professional Registration: SCFHS registration.

Desired Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in orthopedic casting.
  • Completion of specialized cast and splinting courses.

Education:

  • Essential: Medical or nursing technician qualification.
  • Desired: Certification in cast and splinting techniques
