Job Description The Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings.

Technical

  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
  • Writing behavior support plans, collecting data and conducting functional assessments, communicating with teachers, parents, family members and caregivers, working with clients one-on-one or in a group in a home or center setting
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA.
  • Utilize safe & appropriate handing procedures when working with clients.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Assume Lead Behavioral Technician responsibilities in their absence.
  • Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, Lead Behavioral Technician, ABA Interns, and co-workers.
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.

Quality & Safety Ensuring compliance with all safety and quality control programs and procedures as applicable

Ensuring compliance with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection

Maintaining and assisting in enforcing the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded

Complying and ensuring that those directly supervised comply with occupational health and safety at work policies and procedures

Assisting in the planning and developing policies that guide the service implementation process

Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures

Ensuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections

Education Participating in training and education sessions for department staff, doctors and nurses. teaching, induction, peer review, case studies, and clinical presentations

Participating in department programs/committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetings

Ensuring appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and procedures

Maintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars or on-line education units

Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames

Ensuring all members of the department receive adequate clinical supervision as required for their professional and technical development
