Role Description The Ward Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based at ALMehwar Hospital in 6th of October. The Ward Pharmacist will provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatients, including reviewing medication orders for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness, and ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and guidelines. Daily responsibilities include participating in ward rounds, reconciling medications on admission and discharge, counseling patients and families on proper medication use, and monitoring for drug interactions, adverse effects, and therapeutic outcomes. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize pharmacotherapy, support antimicrobial stewardship, and contribute to medication safety initiatives. The Ward Pharmacist will also maintain accurate documentation, support inventory management for ward medications, and assist in training and educating staff on medication-related issues.
Qualifications

• Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge, including pharmacotherapy, dosage adjustment, and interpretation of laboratory results to support safe and effective medication use.
• Proficiency in medication review, prescription verification, and detection of drug interactions and adverse drug reactions within an inpatient setting.
• Ability to provide clear patient counseling on medication administration, adherence, and side effects, with strong communication skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Competence in using hospital information systems, electronic medical records, and pharmacy software to document care and manage medication orders.
• Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, including ward stock management, medication storage requirements, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent); clinical pharmacy or PharmD qualification is preferred.
• Valid pharmacist license/registration as required by local regulations.
• Previous experience as a hospital or clinical pharmacist, particularly in ward-based roles, is highly beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
