Job Description
Serves as an Emergency Physician (EP) in the Emergency Department, assessing, monitoring, and treating patients presenting to the Emergency for diseases and disabilities according to approved policies and procedures of the hospital which are part of integrated curative and preventive services.
Key Responsibilities
- To conduct assessment & re-assessment for all patients in the Emergency, on admission, and prior to any procedure.
- Perform triage, resuscitation, stabilization, and emergency treatment in accordance with international clinical guidelines.
- Determines which cases require urgent treatment and, extends rapid treatment to the patient as needed, facilitates quick decisions, and chooses the correct consultant for necessary additional guidance.
- Manage a wide range of emergency conditions, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, gastrointestinal, endocrine, infectious, and trauma-related emergencies.
- Perform advanced emergency procedures, including airway management, endotracheal intubation, central venous catheter insertion, chest tube insertion, procedural sedation, fracture reduction and splinting, wound management, suturing, abscess drainage, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Interpret ECGs, laboratory investigations, and diagnostic imaging to support timely clinical decision-making.
- Manage post-operative emergency cases and coordinate care with surgeons and other medical specialists.
- Determine appropriate patient disposition, including discharge, admission, ICU transfer, or referral when necessary.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records in compliance with DHA regulations and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies and hospital protocols.
Skills & Competencies
- Extensive experience managing critical care, trauma, and emergency medical cases.
- Strong proficiency in advanced resuscitation and emergency procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- Board Certification (or equivalent) in Emergency Medicine.
- Valid DHA License as a Specialist Emergency Medicine.
- Minimum 5 years of post-specialty experience in hospitals within the UAE.
- Valid BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications are mandatory. ATLS certifications are preferred.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
- Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
