Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Fetal Sonographer to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this role, you will perform advanced obstetric and fetal ultrasound examinations, supporting Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists and Obstetricians in delivering accurate diagnoses and exceptional patient care.
You will play a critical role in assessing fetal development, monitoring high-risk pregnancies, and ensuring the highest standards of imaging quality, safety, and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties
- Perform routine and advanced obstetric ultrasound scans across all trimesters
- Conduct detailed fetal anatomy and anomaly scans
- Assess fetal growth, biometry, and amniotic fluid volume
- Perform Doppler studies (umbilical artery, MCA, uterine artery, ductus venosus)
- Evaluate placenta, umbilical cord, and cervical length
- Support multiple pregnancy assessments (e.g., chorionicity and amnionicity)
- Assist physicians with invasive fetal procedures when required
- Identify and escalate abnormal findings promptly
Patient Care & Communication
- Ensure accurate patient identification and examination verification
- Explain procedures clearly and provide reassurance to patients and families
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
- Deliver compassionate care, especially to high-risk or anxious patients
Documentation & Systems
- Capture and document high-quality diagnostic images
- Maintain accurate patient records and upload data to RIS/PACS systems
- Assist with preliminary reporting where applicable
Professional Development & Quality
- Participate in continuing education (CME) and training programs
- Stay current with best practices in fetal imaging and ultrasound technology
- Contribute to audits, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings
- Support mentoring and training of junior team members
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Valid DHA License (Dubai Health Authority)
- Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound / Sonography / Radiography
- Additional certification or specialization in ultrasound required
Experience
- 2–4 years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting
- Experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine or high-risk obstetrics preferred
- Proven expertise in fetal anomaly scans and Doppler imaging
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of fetal anatomy and obstetric ultrasound protocols
