About the job

Purpose of the role:

To provide a physiotherapy service to patients who may have physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury, disability or ageing to improve their physical function and to provide them with treatment programmes using manual therapy (such as massage), therapeutic exercise and electrotherapy. To ensure the delivery of International standards of care in accordance with established national and international practices, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current SCFHS registration and professional classification.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in neurological physiotherapy.
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in assessment and treatment of:
  • Stroke
  • Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Vestibular disorders
  • Peripheral neurological disorders
  • Other neurological and neurodegenerative conditions
  • Advanced skills in:
  • Neurological assessment
  • Gait and movement analysis
  • Balance and vestibular rehabilitation
  • Functional mobility training
  • Spasticity management
  • Prescription of mobility and rehabilitation equipment
  • Experience managing complex rehabilitation programs and discharge planning.
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication and patient/family education skills.
  • Experience supervising junior physiotherapists, students, or support staff is preferred.
  • Participation in quality improvement initiatives, audits, clinical education, or service development is preferred.
  • Neurological rehabilitation certifications (e.g., Bobath/NDT, PNF, Vestibular Rehabilitation, FES, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
  • Research, teaching, or publication experience is an advantage.
