Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Description

The NICU Registered Nurse provides critical, specialized care to newborn infants who are premature, born with low birth weight, or experiencing severe medical complications. You will monitor vital functions, administer specialized treatments, and support parents through stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Critical Monitoring: Assess and monitor premature or critically ill newborns’ vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological changes.
• Specialized Interventions: Manage mechanical ventilators, incubators, phototherapy equipment, and central lines.
• Medication Administration: Calculate, prepare, and administer complex neonatal medications and intravenous nutrition safely.
• Family-Centered Care: Educate and support parents regarding kangaroo care, feeding techniques, and infant health management.
• Emergency Response: Rapidly initiate and assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilization protocols when required.
• Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate daily with neonatologists, pediatricians, and respiratory therapists.

Requirements

Degree: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing from an accredited institution.Experience: 3+ years of post-qualification experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU setup.Skills: Expert knowledge of neonatal resuscitation (NRP), developmental care, and critical care protocols.License: Active DHA License or a valid DHA Eligibility Letter.
