Registered Nurse – Cathlab

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory (Cathlab) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The role requires a professional who can maintain high standards of patient safety, infection control, and clinical excellence in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Peri-procedural Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker insertions, and other interventional radiology procedures.

Intra-procedural Support: Assist cardiologists and interventional radiologists during procedures by scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring. Manage hemodynamic monitoring systems (e.g., GE, Philips) and recognize arrhythmias promptly.

Medication Administration: Administer moderate sedation, vasoactive drugs, and contrast media safely, adhering to hospital protocols and monitoring for adverse reactions.

Equipment Management: Ensure the functionality and sterility of Cathlab equipment, consumables, and emergency trolleys. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control standards.

Patient Advocacy: Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure care.

Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure all documentation meets DHA and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.

Emergency Response: Actively participate in emergency codes (e.g., Code Blue) and manage complications such as cardiac arrest, contrast reactions, or vascular access site issues.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSC Nursing) from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience after obtaining the BSC degree, with at least 2 years of recent experience in a Cathlab, ICU, or CCU setting.

Licensure: Valid DHA License (or DHA Eligibility Letter) is mandatory.

Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are required.

Skills & Competencies:

Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of ECGs.

Strong knowledge of interventional cardiology products (stents, balloons, catheters).

Excellent critical thinking and crisis management skills.

Ability to work under pressure and handle on-call shifts (if required).
