Radiology Specialist

Job Description


The Radiology Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and other modalities, to produce high-quality images for radiologists’ interpretation. The role involves working with advanced imaging technology, ensuring patient safety, adhering to radiation protection standards, and maintaining high standards of clinical practice. Collaborating with a team of doctors and nurses, the Radiology Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering patient care while following established radiology requirements and regulations to ensure safety.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Managerial/Administration:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of radiology service standards.
  • Oversee radiology technologists, interns, and junior staff, providing guidance and supervision.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient communication and delivery of services.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and ensure effective workflow coordination.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate stocks and supplies within the designated work area.
  • Handle the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to ensure the efficient storage, retrieval, and transmission of images.
  • Report equipment and general maintenance issues to the area supervisor and ensure the equipment is properly maintained for a safe and efficient work environment.

Technical:

  • Perform a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, and Portable (X-Ray and Ultrasound), ensuring high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Accurately position and immobilize patients during imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Administer contrast media as required and monitor patients during and after procedures.
  • Ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards and process them into a format suitable for radiologists.
  • Operate, maintain, and check the validity of radiology equipment, reporting malfunctions per departmental policies.
  • Ensure proper use of PACS to record and transmit data accurately.
  • Assist in other areas of radiology work, such as reception, as needed.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging, or a related field.
  • Valid license/registration to practice his / her spicality from Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • BLS certified.
  • Knowledge of KSA Health Regulations.
  • International accreditation experience.

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiology Specialist, with experience in multiple imaging modalities preferred (X-ray, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy).
