The Radiography Technologist (Sonographer) is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support accurate clinical diagnosis and patient management. The role involves producing high-quality imaging, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and collaborating with physicians to deliver timely and effective care.

The position plays a critical role in supporting specialized services at ICLDC, contributing to high standards of patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, and other specialty scans as required. 
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal image quality and patient safety. 
  • Accurately capture diagnostic images and identify normal and abnormal findings for physician interpretation.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians by providing preliminary observations to support clinical diagnosis.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, explain procedures clearly, and provide reassurance to enhance patient experience.
  • Monitor patient condition during examinations and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions. 
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update imaging data in PACS and hospital information systems.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards to ensure a safe clinical environment. 
  • Ensure compliance with DOH guidelines and departmental policies for imaging procedures.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuous professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography, Radiologic Technology, or Medical/Diagnostic Imaging is required. 
  • Additional certification in Sonography or relevant specialty is preferred. 
  • Minimum 2–5 years of post-qualification experience in sonography or diagnostic imaging.
  • Experience in an accredited healthcare facility (e.g., JCIA) preferred. 
  • Valid DOH (Abu Dhabi) license as a Radiography Technologist / Sonographer. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. 
  • Additional certifications (ACLS/PALS) may be required based on specialty.
