Duties and Responsibilities
- Position patients and equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Operate X-ray, CT, MRI, and other imaging equipment with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and answering their questions.
- Ensure patient safety by following radiation protection measures and using appropriate shielding.
- Collaborate with medical staff to determine the appropriate imaging techniques and positions.
- Review images for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Document patient information, procedure details, and imaging results accurately.
- Uphold medical and ethical standards, ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Stay updated with technological advancements in radiography.
- Provide compassionate patient care, addressing concerns and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere.
- Assist in training and supervising radiography interns.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Education:
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Radiography from an accredited University.
- Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN)
Experience:
- Must have proven experience as a Radiographer for at least 2 year.
Technical Skills:
- Imaging Equipment Operation: Proficiently operate X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and other imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
- Patient Positioning: Skillfully position patients to achieve optimal imaging results while ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Radiation Safety: Thorough understanding of radiation safety protocols and techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients, colleagues, and oneself.
- Image Quality Control: Ability to assess and adjust imaging parameters to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Contrast Media Administration: Knowledge of administering contrast agents for certain imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and proper protocols.
- Anatomy Knowledge: Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology to accurately position patients and identify anatomical structures on images.
- Medical Terminology: Proficiency in medical terminology to effectively communicate with other healthcare professionals and accurately document procedures.
- Image Analysis: Skill in analyzing diagnostic images to identify abnormalities, anomalies, and potential issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and address minor equipment malfunctions, ensuring proper functioning.
- Documentation: Accurate record-keeping of patient information, procedure details, and imaging results.
