Job Purpose / Objective :

Compound and dispenses medication and prescriptions in accordance with accepted standard and established pharmacy procedures.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities  :

• Performs professional work in the compounding and dispensing of medication in unit dose and I.V. admixture.
• Reviews and interprets physician’s drug order for clarity, rational, dosage form, allergies, interactions, incompatibility, etc.
• Answer physician’s inquiries regarding drugs.
• Maintains control and security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medication, as well as patient profiles maintenance and review.
• Dispenses outpatient’s home going prescriptions.
• Prepares and/ or supervises the preparation of TPN and I.V. admixture including chemotherapeutic agents as appropriate.
• Provides drug information and assists in instructing nursing and medication staff, pharmacy resident and students.
• Performs inspection of nursing units, discusses service problems with head nurses and recommends solutions to pharmacy supervisor.
• Assist with special projects as necessary.
• Follow all hospital related policies and procedures.
• Provide patient and family education as per needs.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his knowledge, skill and abilities

Requirements

Education/ Professional Qualification:

• Graduated from accredited College of Pharmacy with minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.  

Experience:

• At least One (1) year work experience in Pharmacy.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training:

• Must be licensable by Ministry of Health
• Must hold a valid Saudi Council License
