JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the operational workflow planning using data metrics with specific emphasis on implementation, integration, standardization and maintenance of pharmacy informatics’ and automation systems to support this mission.
Responsibilities
- Works in collaboration with oncology leadership to develop and maintain oncology policies and procedures and build it in HIS.
- Collaborate with health care team in clinical research trials related to oncology and infusion therapy
- Consulting with Epic, application coordinators, supervisors and end users to configure and build Epic Beacon solution to meet organizational and client needs
- Beacon system optimization, workflow analysis, and providing technical assistance that may also include Ambulatory workflows for Oncology practice
- Data base configure and system support for oncology Robot and all technologies in oncology pharmacy
- Troubleshooting issues, identifying workflow optimization opportunities, and offering solutions and a course of action
- Assists in the coordination of the development, implementation, integration and maintenance of automation and technology to assure safe and appropriate use of medications
- Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures related to pharmacy automation and technology
- Generates reports and metrics to support and develop efficient workflow operations
- Interacts routinely with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to design efficient medication use processes using automation and technology
- Supports the formulary and restricted drug programs
- Maintain accurate medication charging
- Provides guidance and prioritization of workload for pharmacy leadership and pharmacy systems personnel
- Coordinates pharmacy automation and technology activities with Information Technology Department
- Participates in the development, prioritization, and determination of core clinical decision-support systems
- Manages automation system databases such as formulary listings, user listing. etc.
- Ensures pharmacy systems are compliant with and support regulatory guidelines
- Consults with pharmacy personnel, physicians and nurses to identify current operating procedures and to clarify system objectives to best utilize the automation software and hardware.
- Ensures pharmacy systems are compliant with and support regulatory guidelines
- Conducts and/or overseas all new employee training regarding the informatics and automation systems ( including, but not limited to, development and maintenance of appropriate training manuals, and conducting off-line training classes)
- Contributes to the advancement of the professional through presentations and local, national, and international meetings
- Proficient in use of Electronic Health Record
- Participate in one or more process improvement project(s)
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Proficient in use of integrated inventory management system
- Proficient in use of automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs, Anesthesia A-Stations)
- Proficient in use of automated storage devices (CII Safe)
- Proficient in use of repacking softwares and hardwares
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Four (4) years experience as a pharmacist is required post Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Ability to speak and write in English is required
- EPIC certification and/or CPHIMS (Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems) credential is preferred
- Ability to speak and write in Arabic is preferred
- Strong organizational and project management skillsEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy is required
- Current National Pharmacy license is required
