JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide expert diagnosis and management of skin, hair, and nail disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. The Consultant in Pediatric Dermatology will deliver specialized care tailored to pediatric needs, in accordance with SEHA’s standards for safety, quality, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of pediatric dermatologic conditions including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, hemangiomas, vascular malformations, genetic skin disorders, infections, acne, and birthmarks.

Perform skin biopsies and minor dermatological procedures suitable for pediatric patients.

Provide laser therapy and other advanced treatments when appropriate and available.

Collaborate with pediatricians, allergists, immunologists, geneticists, and other specialists in multidisciplinary care planning.

Counsel and educate patients and their families on disease management, skincare routines, and treatment plans.

Document consultations, treatments, and follow-up care in the hospital’s electronic medical record system.

Lead or participate in pediatric dermatology clinics and hospital consultations.

Supervise residents and junior medical staff; contribute to educational and clinical training programs.

Engage in clinical audits, research, and continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Ensure adherence to DOH and SEHA policies on infection control, patient safety, medical ethics, and child safeguarding.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized medical institution.

Residency in Dermatology with subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Dermatology.

Board Certification in Dermatology (e.g., American Board, CCT UK, MRCP with Dermatology specialization, or equivalent) with proven pediatric dermatology expertise.

Valid DOH Consultant License in Dermatology with a focus in Pediatric Dermatology, or eligibility to obtain it.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of post-board certification experience in Dermatology, with at least 2 years focused in Pediatric Dermatology.

Experience managing complex and rare pediatric skin disorders in hospital or tertiary care settings is highly desirable.
