Position Overview:
The primary role of the post holder is to provide nurse-led specialist individual care to paediatric patients and their carers throughout the transplant process with an emphasis on advanced practice. There is a strong commitment to education and health promotion as well as a supportive role for the transplant recipients and their families in the short and long term. The on-call responsibility includes the organization of liver, combined organ, islet and hepatocyte transplantation.
Key Accountabilities:
CLINICAL PRACTICE
• Provide specialized nursing services for patients and their relatives undergoing transplantation.
• Manage client caseload from assessment through transplant, discharge, and long-term follow-up, ensuring high-quality nursing care continuity.
• Introduce potential transplant recipients and carers to transplantation concepts, offering individualized education programs throughout.
• Offer psychological, practical, and emotional support to transplant recipients and carers based on their unique needs.
• Assume responsibility for patient caseload, ensuring accurate care plans reflecting assessments.
• Work autonomously, assessing patient and carer needs, ordering tests, and making referrals to the appropriate multidisciplinary team (MDT).
• Provide specialist advice on treatments and medication prescriptions.
• Deliver appropriate follow-up care, ensuring patients have information to make informed treatment decisions.
• Coordinate seamless services through enhanced multidisciplinary team processes and communication.
• Establish and manage a nurse-led outpatient assessment clinic, post-transplant follow-up, and health promotion clinic.
• Attend and coordinate multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Regularly review clinical status of patients awaiting transplantation, ensuring up-to-date investigations and arrangements for emergency admission.
• Liaise with MDT, influence timely discharge, and arrange follow-up for patients.
• Collaborate with referring consultants, community services, and counseling services to develop patient, carer, and healthcare professional services.
• Engage service users for feedback and suggestions on service improvement.
• Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to junior colleagues.
ON CALL
• Participate in on-call rotation for liver offers and referrals, facilitating 24/7 support.
• Receive national and international referrals and coordinate emergency listings for acute liver failure patients.
• Facilitate organ retrievals, coordinate retrieval team/transport, and maintain effective communication.
• Liaise with transplant surgeon for organ suitability and patient selection.
• Provide clinical support, nursing advice, and education to patients/families during on-call periods.
• Offer psychological and emotional support during pre-transplant phases.
• Conduct onsite clinical assessments for potential recipients.
• Optimize recipient conditions pre-transplantation and coordinate the transplantation process.
EDUCATION, AUDIT AND RESEARCH
• Promote transplant/organ donation benefits to patients, healthcare professionals, and the public.
• Communicate complex information to patients/carers effectively.
• Provide specialized information and educational material for patients and carers.
• Collaborate with corporate communications to provide information for media.
• Plan and deliver specialized education/training for healthcare professionals.
• Act as an expert resource for healthcare professionals.
• Prepare educational materials and evaluate education programs.
• Initiate and participate in approved research projects and audits.
• Ensure statutory documentation meets national guidelines.
Education & Qualification:
• UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
Experience
• Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 5 years.
• Recent experience working with Paediatric patients and a sound knowledge of liver disorders
Knowledge Training & Experience
• Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty.
• Demonstrable ongoing and active CPD
• Provides excellent patient care.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.
• Experience managing a team is desirable.

Language
• Preferably a native or fluent Arabic speaker with excellent verbal communication skills.
