Job Description

We are sourcing for a compassionate and highly skilled Optometrist for a PART TIME role for 3 months. Candidate must have a DHA eligibility letter to practice, preferably with OWN Visa since this is a temporary role.

Provide technical support for Ophthalmology services at FUH and ensure optimal clinical care and safety of patients.

Work within a multidisciplinary team with a personalized and caring attitude.

Participate in public health awareness initiatives and training programs as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Under the direction of the referring ophthalmologist and following thorough, comprehensive and holistic approach he/she carries out eye examinations to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination, visual field mapping and assessments to rule out glaucoma and color blindness.
  • Provides pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries.
  • Adjusts eye glasses, contact lenses and other visual aids as required. In addition, educates patients on contact lens care and visual hygiene
  • Ensures consistent, accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters as per policy.
  • Reviews with the medical staffs, adverse events, problem incidents and complaints, and explores all opportunities to improve the quality of care and provide recommendations with regard to risk management.
  • Participates in a quality assurance program for Ophthalmology, and monitors key performance indicators
  • Assists the Chief and Chair of Surgical Department in developing best practice guidelines and protocols
  • Complies with the organisations policies, procedures and work instructions and commits to the organizations Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Complies with the Health and Safety regulations of the organization and regulatory body.
  • Participation in organization wide initiatives
  • Fosters interdepartmental liaison.
  • Promotes efficient and effective communication within the organisation.
  • Promotes health awareness to patients and their families.
  • Demonstrates and affirms a commitment to Continuing Medical Education (CME)
  • Other duties as reasonably requested by the Department Chair or Chief Medical Officer.
