Job Title Consultant – Obstetrics & Gynecology
Role Purpose
Within the limits of his/her delineated clinical privileges, to manage patients for whom he/she is responsible, to the highest attainable standards of care within his/her resources in full compliance with Dallah Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations, and to support the Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the overall management of the department
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Takes full responsibility for the appropriate admission, monitoring, and care of patients (that
iscompassionate, appropriate & effective) attending his/her allocated OBGYN Outpatient Clinics or delivery room or presenting at the Emergency Room, admitted under the specialty or referred for opinion and management.
2. Assesses patient needs, performs the normal range of Obstetrics & Gynecology procedures in the delivery room or operating rooms on a routine or emergency basis, and manages the antenatal and postnatal care of the patients.
3. Responsible for investigating, diagnosing, and treating the health conditions of patients by using scientific evidence to improve patient care practices.
4. Responsible for prescribing and reviewing patients’ medication appropriately and in a timely.
5. Responsible for closely monitoring the medically necessary length of stay of patients.
6. Writing clinical notes (including assessment and care plans) in patients’ medical records as per the hospital policy.
7. Responsible for complying with appropriate blood or blood product use and antibiotic stewardship programs per hospital policy.
8. Demonstrates interpersonal & communication skills that establish & maintain professional relationships with patients, families, co-workers, & other members of the healthcare team.
9. Able to demonstrate both understanding of contexts and systems in which health care is provided and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve and optimize health care.
10. Able to use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care practices.
11. Demonstrates cost-conscious care, including avoiding the overuse and misuse of diagnostic tests and treatment.
12. Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding & sensitivity to diversity & responsible attitude towards other staff and patients.
13. As directed by the Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology, manages any assigned Resident Staff/General Practitioners allocated to the department, participating in arranging rotas and periods of leave towards the protection of the required 24-hour cover.
14. As requested by the Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology, participates in the planning and budgeting cycle for the department.
15. Contributes to the departmental program of continuing medical education.
16. As directed by the Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology, attends appropriate meetings of the medical staff.
17. Develops and coordinates the Quality Improvement Program within his/her area of responsibilities.
18. Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well-informed care decisions.
19. Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology and/or Chief of Medical Staff.
Necessary Knowledge and Experience
Essential:*
Five (5) years in the specialty of Obstetrics & Gynecology
With three years at the consultant level.
Minimum of five years since the acquisition of an essential postgraduate qualification.
Education and Certification Requirements
■ Basic Medical Degree from a recognized
■ Saudi Board, Membership / Fellowship Certification, or equivalent in the specialty.
■ SCFHS License as Obstetrics & Gynecology Consultant
Skills
■ Knowledge & skills in the modern techniques utilized in obstetrics& gynecology, including abdominal ultrasound.* Knowledge in Computer application
■ Ability to speak, read, and write Arabic and English.
