- The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a non-promotional field-based medical role responsible for conducting medical engagements/activities that ensure the safe and effective use of GSK’s medicines while generating medical insights.
- MSLs are expected to drive EEs/HCPs education journeys using the Sc/AUBB+ tool, provide support to GSK clinical development & Key Evidence Generation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide product and disease area information to external experts. This need is met primarily through direct scientific interactions with external experts and healthcare professionals, including proactive data presentations and reactive responses to medical information queries.
- MSLs are field-based scientific experts in specific therapeutic areas, clinical practice, and competitor landscape. Through his/her expertise and external interactions he/she will gather insights which will assist in the development and execution of innovative Medical Affairs strategies and plans that clearly support GSK development of medicines of value for patients.
- The language and activities of the MSL must always reflect the medical nature of the role, be fair, balanced, scientific and evidence based. MSLs may be required to manage scientific engagement budget, train internal stakeholders and contribute in medical affairs and/or R&D activities.
MSLs responsibilities include: Collect & generate insights:
- Conduct proactive/reactive (1:1), (1: many) discussions and meetings, support advisory boards/consultations and scientific workshops.
- Use GSK tools to capture insights and medical voice of customers while regularly assessing related KPIs and their impact on TA strategic objectives
- Attend scientific meetings/congresses
Inform decisions:
- Provide product and TA information to internal and External customers.
- Conduct Medical Education programs. (GSK led, collaborative or supported)
- Map evidence gaps & collaborate in developing evidence generation plans
- Support patients access to GSK brands
- Engage & represent medical with EE, payers, government & formularies
Change behavior:
- Work collaboratively to scale EE Sc/AUBB+ level in the assigned TA
- Engage proactively/reactively (according to Asset local registration status) to update TA related guidelines and educate HCPs about them
- Transform guidelines into execution protocols
- Address HCP’s unsolicited questions regarding GSK products within the Medical Affairs/scientific/Medical Information booth
Evidence Generation and R&D:
- Identify local evidence gaps and propose EG initiatives
- Support EG int/ext approvals while factoring in budget requirements
- Work collaboratively with respective functions to drive local publications
- Identify opportunities to bring R&D projects to LOC
Medical Governance:
- Ensure on label external communication and document off-label reactive responses to MI queries as per relevant SOPs
- Ensure compliance with GSK policies, standards, and with local codes of practice, Saudi FDA regulations and laws.
- Act as a focal point of contact for relevant TA management monitoring, internal audits and/or inspections
- Timely execution of agreed audits & inspections CAPAs
- Identify risks & mitigation plans related to assigned TAs/ Med dep
Pharmacovigilance:
- Ensure fulfillment of PV training requirements for self & 3rd parties
- Ensure that PV requirements are reflected across int & ext engagements
- Support PV audits and/or inspections within respective TAs
- Communicate up to date safety data to HCPs as part of fair & balanced communication
- Ensure safety reporting responsibilities are met by self and others
Job Complexity:
- The position requires (proficient) grade skills across communication, medical governance, value access and evidence generation capabilities.
- Comfortable working across boundaries in matrix organization across functions, geographies and cultures.
- Individual contributor with medium to high job complexity and a high level of autonomy & accountability
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Pharmaceutical science degree (Saudi National)
- At least 2-year experience . Respiratory Therapy Area experience is preferred.
- Proven successful track record.
- Having a valid license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties
- Ability to analyze, present and discuss scientific data in the therapeutic area with external and internal stakeholders
- High level of discipline, ability to organize the activity and to reasonably use the working time within the established independence limits.
- Developed skills in business planning, business orientation and working under a dynamically changing condition
- Fluent in professional English language. Arabic language is an advantage.
