Job Description

The Medical Coder is responsible for transforming healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. You will ensure that all clinical documentation is accurately reflected in billable codes to maximize reimbursement and maintain compliance with DHA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Code Assignment: Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Documentation Review: Audit medical records to ensure that documentation supports the codes flagged for billing.
  • Compliance: Adhere to strict coding guidelines and UAE healthcare regulations to ensure ethical billing practices.
  • Query Management: Collaborate with physicians to clarify ambiguous or incomplete documentation.
  • Denial Management: Analyze rejected claims to identify coding errors and resubmit corrected claims to insurance payers.
  • KPI Tracking: Meet daily coding volume targets while maintaining a high accuracy rate (95% or above).
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of solid medical coding experience in a hospital or multi-specialty clinic.
  • Certification: CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) is mandatory.
  • Skills: Expertise in UAE insurance portals, e-claims submission, and medical terminology.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
