General Practitioner – Family Medicine

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients across different age groups.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage common acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Conduct routine medical examinations, health assessments, preventive screenings, and wellness checks.
  • Provide vaccinations, health education, lifestyle counselling, and disease-prevention guidance.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic investigations.
  • Perform minor medical procedures within the scope of granted clinical privileges.
  • Identify cases requiring specialist intervention and coordinate appropriate referrals.
  • Provide urgent and non-urgent medical care in accordance with established clinical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Comply with M42 policies, clinical governance requirements, patient safety standards, infection prevention measures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuing professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree such as Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Doctor of Medicine, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of the required internship and clinical training.
  • Valid General Practitioner licence from the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Relevant experience in Family Medicine, primary healthcare, outpatient care, or a comparable clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, preventive care, and general medical presentations.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, patient safety, clinical quality, and continuous professional development.
