Role Description The Consultant Rheumatology role is a full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates. The consultant will provide specialized diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions, including arthritis and connective tissue disorders. Daily responsibilities include conducting outpatient clinics, reviewing inpatient referrals, performing thorough clinical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The consultant will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, participate in case discussions, guide junior medical staff, and contribute to patient education and preventive care initiatives. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement projects, and maintaining accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical expertise in rheumatology, including diagnosis and management of complex rheumatologic and autoimmune diseases.
  • Strong skills in patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and development of individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating effectively with other medical and allied health professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient counseling, education, and clear documentation of clinical encounters.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and adherence to evidence-based medical practice.
  • Board certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Rheumatology, with valid licensure or eligibility for licensure in the UAE.
  • Relevant postgraduate training and experience as a Rheumatology consultant or specialist in a hospital or healthcare group setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, maintaining professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and modern clinical technologies.
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
