- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets Joint Commission standards. 3.2 Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Initiates and participates in review/study of difficult and special cases.
- Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital standards are met.
- Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
- Participates in weekly rounds and peer reviews.
- Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs, integrating the curative and preventive aspect of total patient care.
- Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as they relate to Ophthalmology.
- Participates in QA programs as requested by the Medical Director.
- Orients new staff when requested to do so.
- Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.
- Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
- Participates on committees as requested by Medical Director.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
- Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the head of general clinic.

Qualifications
- QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL
SKILLS:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Medicine with an MBBS degree.
- Post-Graduate Masters degree or equivalent Fellowships approved by DOH.
- Minimum of five years experience in the practice as Ophthalmologist post certification.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
