Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital (SSBZH), part of M42, is seeking an experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon to join its multidisciplinary medical team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive neurosurgical care for patients with disorders affecting the brain, spine, peripheral nerves, and cerebrovascular system. The Consultant will be responsible for delivering high-quality surgical and clinical services while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage patients with disorders affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system.
- Perform elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures within the scope of granted clinical privileges.
- Provide comprehensive pre-operative, operative, and post-operative neurosurgical care.
- Manage neurosurgical emergencies and participate in the on-call coverage roster.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and other investigations relevant to neurosurgical practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding treatment options and outcomes.
- Support teaching, mentoring, and clinical development activities within the department.
Qualifications
- MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent medical qualification recognized by the relevant regulatory authority.
- Completion of an accredited residency and higher specialty training program in Neurosurgery.
- Consultant qualification recognized under the UAE Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR), such as Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Fellowship, CCT/CCST, European Board, or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-certification experience as a Consultant Neurosurgeon.
- Valid DOH License as Consultant Neurosurgery or eligibility to obtain one.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in cranial, spinal, and emergency neurosurgical procedures.
- Strong clinical decision-making, surgical, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical practice.
