Job Description

Ability Pediatric Rehab Center is seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Consultant in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to lead clinical care for children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral challenges. This role is pivotal in advancing our center’s reputation as a trusted hub for early intervention and developmental support across the UAE.

Clinical Leadership

  • Conduct detailed developmental assessments and diagnose conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and motor delays, and behavioral disorders.
  • Create and oversee individualized care plans that integrate therapy across OT, speech, psychology, and behavioral services.
  • Ensure evidence-based practices are followed and updated across the team.

Family & Patient Support

  • Counsel families with empathy and clarity, helping them understand diagnoses, treatment plans, and long-term developmental pathways.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and point of reference for both internal teams and external pediatricians or educational institutions.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Lead clinical case discussions with in-house therapists (SLPs, OTs, psychologists, behavior therapists).
  • Contribute to team training and mentoring to elevating the clinical standards of the center.

Program & Service Development

  • Help design and implement specialized care programs (Early Intervention, School Readiness, Social Integration).
  • Work closely with management to expand Ability’s reach and clinical offerings in line with patient needs and market trends.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with center leadership to define and implement departmental goals, workflows, and clinical priorities.
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation of patient records and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to policy development, licensing preparations, and audits related to pediatric services.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations for relevant clinical team members.
  • Assist in planning schedules, resource allocation, and reporting for developmental and behavioral services.

Quality And Compliance Requirements

  • Monitor and uphold clinical quality standards in line with DOH (Abu Dhabi) regulations and international best practices.
  • Lead or contribute to internal audits, incident reviews, and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Support the development and use of outcome-based metrics to evaluate patient progress and service impact.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying service gaps and proposing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all clinical interactions follow ethical, patient-centered, and culturally sensitive practices.

Accountabilities:

  • Efficient use of center resources in diagnostics and treatment planning.
  • Support service line development initiatives that contribute to revenue growth.
  • Uphold highest standards of patient care and ethics.
  • Drive excellence in team collaboration and patient satisfaction.
  • Promote community and professional awareness of developmental pediatrics.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and train junior staff and therapy team members.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent)
  • DOH (Abu Dhabi) license or eligibility to obtain it

Desired:

  • Board Certification or Fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, or a closely related specialty

Additional Information

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years post-certification in pediatric developmental/behavioral care
  • Experience in interdisciplinary rehab settings and program development

Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in diagnosing and managing ASD, ADHD, etc.
  • Strong family engagement and communication skills
  • Leadership in cross-functional clinical teams
  • Program development experience
  • Familiarity with regional developmental screening tools and protocols
  • Ability to represent the center in clinical forums or professional events
