Amana Healthcare is seeking an experienced Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its Mental Health Services team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children, adolescents, and their families, delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary environment while promoting the emotional, psychological, and developmental wellbeing of young patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents presenting with emotional, behavioral, developmental, and mental health disorders.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, psychotic disorders, and behavioral disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric care and follow-up assessments in outpatient and multidisciplinary settings.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, pediatricians, social workers, educators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Offer family counseling, psychoeducation, and support to patients and caregivers.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and risk assessment for vulnerable patients.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, teaching activities, and continuing medical education programs.
  • Support the development and growth of child and adolescent mental health services within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
  • Fellowship or subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Consultant qualification recognized under the UAE Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR), such as:
  • American Board Certification
  • Canadian Fellowship
  • CCT/CCST
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-certification experience as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.
  • Valid DOH License as Consultant Psychiatry or eligibility for licensure in Abu Dhabi.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex child and adolescent mental health conditions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and family-centered care.
