Job Description
Role Purpose:
The coordination, implementation and evaluation of clinical educational programs that shall assists nursing and allied health staff to integrate new knowledge and skill into their practice and ensures that ongoing competency is maintained. To implement educational and training programs to increase the staff knowledge and skills to ensure high quality patient care. Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes.
Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation. Adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to the learners’ needs.
- Delivers competence-based programs for nursing and allied healthcare staff with a focus on improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
- Develops/coordinates core education to address patient population specific nursing care.
- Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
- Develops/coordinates core education for the development of beside leaders by providing educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.
- Plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.
- Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats.
- Fosters the implementation of evidence-based practice to improve the quality of patient care.
- Uses unit resources in a cost effective and responsible manner
- Actively participates in the process for ensuring the organisation achieves and maintains JCIA status or other rehabilitation accreditations.
- Ensures the reporting of all adverse events, incidents and near misses.
- Contributes to investigations of complaints and incidents and draft responses as required in a timely manner.
- Contributes to the monitoring of key performance indicators and developing action plans as required.
- Coordinates and/ or contributes to orientation of new staff to the organisation.
- Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
- Supports an environment that allows staff to acquire skills, identify and develop new ideas that ensures commitment to the organisational goals.
- In liaison with the Charge Nurse , reviews practice and addresses required changes based on best practice guidelines.
- Analyse/studies trends in practice and recommends changes or adjustments in existing practice, adapting as required to meet the needs of the patient.
- Leads the implementation of evidence-based practice and actively participate in research to promote clinical knowledge and a research based clinical practice environment.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from School of Nursing (Not less than 3 years study duration from an accredited program).
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and/or Master in Nursing / Health Services Management.
- Maintains valid, current RN licensure from own country.
- BLS, PALS, ACLS certified.
Experience:
- Not less than 6 years post graduate experience; minimum of 1 year as an educator preferable.
- Knowledge of KSA Nursing and Allied Health Regulations.
- International accreditation experience.
