Position Summary

Biomedical Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment and devices used within a healthcare setting. This position involves performing regular inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing complex medical machinery. Biomedical technicians play a crucial role in ensuring that all equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards, supporting the overall delivery of quality healthcare services.

Summary of Main Duties

  • Under the direction of the Biomedical Engineering Department Head, Biomedical Technician is employed to maintain all medical equipment and patient support systems.
  • Ensure that clinical equipment’s are always at peak efficiency and remain available for the purposes of providing healthcare services
  • Reports to the Biomedical Engineering Department Head exceptional delays or issues that impact on the availability of services to the clinical departments.
  • Responsible to take part in putting on record all reports on installation, quality check, preventive and corrective maintenance and calibration of the equipment and ensure entries to the CMMS are updated.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports related to progress, delays, completed and issues on corrective and preventive maintenance of the equipments.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise on-site medical service contractors to ensure quality of work and performances.
  • Ensure all the biomedical clinical equipment and patient care systems are in good working condition for use/operation to the satisfaction of the hospital customers/patients.
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of proposed equipment for procurement and make comparison of quality between product to product as required.

Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards

Position Requirements/Qualifications

 BS in Biomedical Engineering degree or equivalent  obtained from a recognized electronic/electrical engineering university
Member of engineering society or institution added qualification 
NA
Holder of this position must have 7-10 years’ experience in medical equipment operations and maintenance management;
Must have advanced electronic training and familiarity with applicable regulatory and inspection requirements.
Factory training on a range of major medical equipment. Proven supervisory, interpersonal skills and leadership in motivating the team
Excellent communication written and verbal with good presentation skill
Ability to work under pressure to achieve results against target
