Role Description The Approvals Doctor is a full-time, on-site role based in Giza, responsible for reviewing and authorizing medical service requests in line with AMC’s clinical and contractual guidelines. Daily tasks include assessing medical necessity for diagnostic tests, treatments, and hospital admissions; verifying compliance with company policies and insurance coverage terms; and documenting decisions clearly and accurately in the approvals system. The role involves regular coordination with healthcare providers, internal operations teams, and customer service staff to clarify clinical information, resolve approval issues, and support timely patient care. The Approvals Doctor also contributes to updating medical approval protocols, identifying patterns of over- or under-utilization, and supporting quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of service.
Qualifications

  • Valid medical degree (MBBCh or equivalent) and license to practice, with strong clinical knowledge in general medicine; experience in insurance medicine, utilization review, or healthcare management is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret medical records, diagnostic reports, and treatment plans, and to make well-reasoned decisions based on evidence-based guidelines and company policies.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and accuracy when assessing medical necessity and financial implications.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to explain approval decisions to providers and internal teams, and to handle inquiries in a respectful and patient-centered manner.
  • Comfort working with healthcare IT systems, claims platforms, and digital documentation tools; proficiency in basic office software (e.g., MS Office) is required.
  • Ability to work on-site in Giza, manage time effectively in a high-volume environment, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in Arabic and good command of English, both written and spoken, to handle clinical documentation and internal communication.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and continuous professional development in line with current medical and healthcare management standards.
