Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

An Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesiologists and the perioperative team in delivering safe and effective anesthesia care. They are responsible for preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, and supplies required for surgical and diagnostic procedures. Working in operating rooms, procedure suites, and critical care settings, Anesthesia Technicians help ensure patient safety by maintaining equipment readiness, adhering to infection control standards, and assisting with anesthesia-related procedures before, during, and after patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and check anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment before procedures.
  • Ensure all anesthesia supplies, medications, airway devices, and emergency equipment are available and functional.
  • Assist anesthesiologists during the induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.
  • Set up and maintain patient monitoring equipment, including ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and capnography monitors.
  • Assist with airway management procedures, including preparation of intubation equipment.
  • Prepare intravenous lines, infusion pumps, and specialized anesthesia equipment as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of anesthesia equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards for all anesthesia-related equipment and supplies.
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock anesthesia workstations and procedure rooms after each case.
  • Assist in responding to emergency situations, including code blue and difficult airway scenarios.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the procurement of anesthesia supplies and consumables.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment checks, maintenance activities, and inventory.
  • Support patient transportation when required, ensuring appropriate monitoring and equipment availability.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe patient care.
  • Assist with invasive monitoring procedures and specialized anesthesia techniques as directed by the anesthesiologist.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and continuing professional development activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Anesthesia Technology.
  • Valid professional license- DOH, DHA, or MOH
