Job Description

The Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon plays a critical role in providing specialized surgical care for patients with orthopedic conditions. This individual demonstrates expertise in orthopedic surgery techniques, diagnosing musculoskeletal conditions, and providing comprehensive patient care. The Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to evidence-based practices.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Perform orthopedic surgical procedures, utilizing advanced surgical techniques and adhering to safety standards.
  • Evaluate patient medical histories, diagnostic tests, and imaging studies to determine appropriate surgical interventions.
  • Diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions through comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, preferences, and medical considerations, incorporating medication, physical therapy, and other non-surgical interventions when appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families about orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Monitor patient progress before, during, and after surgery, addressing any complications or concerns that may arise.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and primary care physicians, to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Consult with colleagues from related specialties, such as radiology, rheumatology, and neurology, to obtain comprehensive assessments and treatment recommendations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case conferences to discuss complex patient cases and develop coordinated treatment plans.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Residency training in orthopedic surgery.
  • Board certification or eligibility in orthopedic surgery.
