Job Summary
The Specialist Dermatologist is responsible for providing specialized medical care in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases affecting the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. The role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based dermatological services in accordance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations, hospital policies, and international clinical standards while ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of dermatological conditions in both adult and pediatric patients.
- Diagnose and treat skin disorders, including but not limited to:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)
- Psoriasis
- Rosacea
- Vitiligo
- Urticaria
- Fungal, bacterial, and viral skin infections
- Hair and scalp disorders
- Nail disorders
- Pigmentary disorders
- Autoimmune skin diseases
- Benign and malignant skin lesions
- Perform comprehensive dermatological examinations and skin cancer screening.
- Request and interpret appropriate laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and skin biopsies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans using medical, procedural, and preventive approaches.
- Prescribe and monitor topical and systemic medications, including biologic therapies where appropriate.
- Perform dermatological procedures, including:
- Skin biopsy
- Cryotherapy
- Electrocautery
- Chemical peels
- Intralesional injections
- Excision of benign skin lesions (within scope of practice)
- Dermoscopy
- Provide cosmetic dermatology services where credentialed, including:
- Botulinum toxin injections
- Dermal fillers
- Laser treatments
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy
- Microneedling
- Scar revision procedures
- Refer patients to other specialists when clinically indicated.
Patient Care
- Educate patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, skincare, disease prevention, and follow-up care.
- Obtain informed consent before performing procedures.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain professional and ethical standards.
- Promote preventive skin health and early detection of skin cancers.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Collaborate with Plastic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Oncology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Pathology, and other specialties to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and referrals.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic medical records.
- Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and international best practices.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and patient safety programs.
- Report adverse events in accordance with hospital policy.
Academic & Professional Development
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and professional development activities.
- Stay updated with advances in dermatology, cosmetic procedures, and clinical research.
- Participate in teaching, mentoring, and supervising junior medical staff where applicable.
- Support clinical research and departmental educational activities.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of an approved residency training program in Dermatology.
- Recognized Specialist qualification in Dermatology accepted by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
- Valid DHA Specialist Dermatologist License or eligibility for Specialist licensing in Dubai.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience as a Specialist Dermatologist (or as required by DHA eligibility criteria).
- Experience in both medical and procedural dermatology is preferred.
- Experience in cosmetic dermatology is an advantage, subject to credentialing and privileging.

- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
