Senior Cardiovascular Technologist, Invasive

Job Description

Acts in a senior capacity and assists other technologists on performing sophisticated procedures. Assists the manager with planning and coordination of cardiac catheterization activities. Performs duties of cardiovascular technologist (Invasive).

Key responsibilities

  • Observes and monitors catheterization procedures for normal/abnormal patterns. Uses knowledge to evaluate results observed and immediately informs the cardiologist of any ECG or pressure changes.
  • Makes preliminary analysis and hemodynamic interpretation for the cardiologist’s further study and diagnosis. Insures recording all findings and incorporating these into patient’s medical record/system database.
  • Carries out all catheterization procedures under direction of cardiologist. Assists with scrub duties and positions radiographic equipment correctly.
  • Analyses and assesses temporary and permanent pacemaker lead(s) and programs pacemaker devices.
  • Receives and completes on a timely manner the work assignments from the manager of the department and gives assignments to technical staff.
  • Assists the manager with daily operational activities,problems solving and coordinating with physicians/floors regarding patients’preparation and transportation.
  • Insures the availability of proper equipment and supplies prior Cath procedure and inform the manager of the shortage or need for equipment repair.
  • Determines the needs for further training of the cardiovascular technologist staff.
  • Assists the training, education, and supervision of students, fellows, and new staff members and the evaluation of their performance. Interviews and orients new staff.
  • Ensures that clinical equipment is safe and functional and performs routine equipment maintenance. Informs the manager of safety hazards or need for repair/maintenance.
  • Assists with emergency resuscitation measures.
  • Contributes with research projects, program development,data collection, and other projects. Participates in departmental quality control and quality improvement programs.
  • Responsible for one of the sections as needed(Paediatric, Adult or Electrophysiology). Responsible for section related staff training and competency check off’s.
  • Complies with the section policies, procedures and protocols. Establish a continue quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.
  • Complies with Radiation safety rules and regulation of the hospital and in accordance with KACST and K.A. CARE and other national orinternational regulation bodies.
  • Applies and ensures compliance with ALARA principle role for all procedure involving radiation exposure.
  • Follows all Hospital’s related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and other’s education, training, and development, as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other responsibilities

  • Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
  • Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology,Health Science, Cardiac Ultrasound,or other related discipline is required.

Experience

  • Four(4) years of experience as a Senior Cardiovascular Technologist Invasive,Ultrasound at KFSHRC, or (Grade 09) related experience is required.
  • Averageof annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
  • One-hundred(100) cumulative continued medical education [CME]
