Job Description

1. Responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
2. Assess and identify patients’ needs and implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment. They work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.
3. Assessment and Evaluation
   1. Meet the essential mental and physical health needs of people of all ages and conditions, including those under end-of-life care.
   2.  Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.
   3. Diagnosis
      1. Understand and analyze the assessment information and data
      2.  Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
   4. Outcomes Identification
      1. Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care.
      2.  Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team.
   5. . Planning
      1. Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
      2.  Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
      3. Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
      4.  Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams.
   6.  Intervention & Implementation
      1. Develop a plan of care for each patient.
      2.  Assess and manage all patient populations with appropriate intervention.
      3. Insert, manage, and discontinue intravenous catheters and intraurethral catheters.
      4.  Record vital signs, recognize, and address abnormalities.
      5.  Perform essential life support (BLS)
      6.  Support patient with personal care activities such as feeding, dressing, and performing hygiene.
      7. Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
      8. Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
      9.  Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
      10. Provide wound care management.
      11.  Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.
      12. Collect blood samples and other body fluids specimens for laboratory work.
      13. Operate and monitor medical equipment.
      14.  Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge.
      15.  Transfer patient safely into and out of bed and chair
      16. Provide patient care while maintaining the basic principle of medicine of “do no harm.
      17.  Record details and symptoms of the patient medical history and current health
      18. Promote patient optimum health and wellbeing.
      19. Identify patients’ care requirements and implement the identified and expected patient`s plan.
      20.  Participate in decision-making concerning patients’ care as well as coordinate their care with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
      21.  Maintain a safe environment using quality assurance and risk management strategies.
      22. Provide a safe environment for patients and staff, including implementing infection control procedures.
      23. Participate in continuous healthcare related quality improvement activities.
      24. Reflect on practice outcomes and make changes to practice when appropriate.
      25. Evaluates patient’s treatment outcome.
      26. Engage in proper documentation relevant to patient’s care.
   7. Check, prepare and assemble all machineries, equipment’s, and instruments required prior to procedure, based on patients procedural needs.
   8. Plan, implement and evaluate the peri-procedure nursing care given to patients, undergoing endoscopic procedures, is effective and in an organized manner.     
   9. Adheres strictly to the ‘TIME OUT’ procedure
   10. Competent in monitoring of patients during and post sedation / anesthesia
   11. Ensure that patients recovering from anesthesia receive optimum care and is able to demonstrate complete knowledge in the usage of Aldrete scoring
   12. Maintain and update all relevant patient documentation / medical records as per hospital policy and procedure.
   13. Responsible for proper storage, disinfection and utilization of the endoscopic scopes and its accessories
   14. Responsible for maintaining inventory checklist of medications including high alert medications and narcotics as per hospital policy
   15. Responsible for maintaining inventory checklist of Hazmat items including MSDS as per hospital policy
   16. Follows the reporting mechanisms / chain of command in the nursing services department. All patient care issues shall be correctly and promptly reported.
   17. Demonstrates an economical approach to the utilization of equipment’s and supplies while assisting the head nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock.
   18. Demonstrates sound knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautions as per hospital policy 
   19. Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actively involved in updating and continuing education.
   20. Takes responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Head Nurse as assigned 
   21. Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
   22. Carries out other duties as instructed by the Nursing Shift Supervisor / Nursing Director.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
2.  Current license in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu   Dhabi,UAE
3.  Minimum 2 years nursing experience after qualification.
4.  BLS provider

 Good English spoken & written, Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not  essential
