Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy
- Completion of a pharmacy residency is preferred but not mandatory.
2. Licensure:
Current and valid pharmacy license to practice in Saudi Arabia
Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., BCPS) is advantageous.
3. Language Proficiency:
Proficiency in Arabic (spoken and written) is required.
Proficiency in English is also required.
4. Other Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development in pharmacy
practice.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to
patients. This role includes medication management, collaboration with healthcare
teams, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within the pharmacy
and the hospital. The Pharmacist plays a critical role in optimizing therapeutic outcomes
and enhancing patient safety.
1. Medication Management:
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and
potential interactions.
- work directly with physicians, other health professionals, to ensure that the
medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health
outcomes.
- DO the OPD Pharmacy Tasks such as: verifying orders, preparing, labelling,
dispensing and patient counseling.
- Do the inpatient Pharmacy Tasks such as: unit dose system, Packing, wrapping,
labeling, dispensing and IV Admixtures preparations.
- Prepare and dispense medications, ensuring compliance with legal and
regulatory standards.
- Review the prescribed medication in the Medical Record of the patient and
confirm the viability of prescription in relation to Mediation reconciliation
- Suggest Replacement Drugs and give details about replacements.
2. Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families about medication regimens, potential side
effects, and proper usage, and confirm the awareness and the acquaintance of
patients with the Utilization of Medication.
- Provide counseling on the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies.
3. Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to
develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide the health-team with any requested Pharmaceutical Information
- collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in the development of pharmaceutical care services in the hospital.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Monitor patient outcomes and medication-related adverse events, contributing
to quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in medication reconciliation processes to ensure continuity of care
during transitions between care settings.
- Implement of the Hospital policies and procedures.
- Implement and follow the General Safety & Infection Control Principals.
5. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including patient medication
profiles and documentation of interventions.
- Document all clinical activities in compliance with institutional policies and
procedures.
- Follow up reporting system (OVRs, Medication error reporting system, ADRs
Reports and intervention forms.
6. Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing pharmacy inventory, including counting, ordering of stocks,
arrangement and labelling according to policies and procedures.
- Confirm availability of Drugs in the pharmacy and report any shortage.
- Conduct regular audits of medications to ensure compliance with safety and
quality standards.
7. Education and Training:
- Participate in the Seminars, and conferences related to Pharmaceutical Therapy.
- Participate in continuing education programs and healthcare national and
international days to stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice.
- Participate in the pharmacy departmental meetings and lectures.
8. Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Pharmacy.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in pharmacy practice and
medication management.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. Pharmacy Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication management, and clinical
pharmacy practices.
- Familiarity with hospital formulary and guidelines for medication use.
2. Clinical Skills:
- Proficient in medication therapy management and patient assessment skills.
- Ability to interpret laboratory results and adjust medication therapy accordingly.
3. Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with
patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to explain complex medication information clearly and compassionately.
4. Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate
effectively with colleagues.
- Empathetic approach to patient care, particularly in sensitive situations.
5. Organizational Skills:
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and ensure efficient
pharmacy operations.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of medication management and
documentation.
Experience:
1. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in pharmacy practice, preferably in an inpatient or
hospital setting.
2. Experience with clinical pharmacy services is preferred.
