Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.
Danat Al Emarat Hospital is seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with strong pediatric ophthalmology experience and proven capability in ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) screening to join our Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality eye care services, support neonatal and pediatric units, and contribute to the early detection and management of complex ophthalmic conditions in infants and children.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert ophthalmic evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric and adult patients.
- Perform ROP screening for premature infants and collaborate with NICU teams for early intervention.
- Manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions including refractive errors, strabismus, congenital eye diseases, and other visual disorders.
- Support outpatient clinics and participate in multidisciplinary pediatric case discussions.
- Provide surgical and non-surgical ophthalmic care in line with consultant-level practice standards.
- Ensure detailed, accurate clinical documentation and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.
Qualifications
- Tier 1 Consultant qualification (e.g., CCT or equivalent) in Ophthalmology.
- Demonstrated experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology (mandatory).
- Proven experience in ROP screening and management.
- Strong clinical background in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient‑centered care skills.
- Eligibility for DOH Consultant Ophthalmologist licensure.
