Job Description

  • Lead underwriting for large, mid-size, and SME corporate group health accounts.
  • Assess risk profiles, claim experience, demographics, benefits structure, and pricing adequacy for group health policies
  • Review and approve new business within assigned authority limits.
  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, pricing frameworks, and rating tools for group health products, in collaboration with other technical teams including Pricing Actuaries.
  • Collaborate closely with BRM’s, Brokers, Actuarial, Medical, and Claims teams to support business growth while maintaining profitability.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios, and claims trends, recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Participate in negotiations with key corporate clients and brokers for complex cases
  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, DHA, DOH (HAAD), MOHAP, and internal underwriting policies.

Retail Health Underwriting

  • Oversee underwriting for individual and family health insurance products.
  • Evaluate medical disclosures, medical reports, and underwriting risks for retail cases.
  • Apply loadings, exclusions, waiting periods, and other underwriting decisions as per guidelines.
  • Support product development and pricing reviews for retail health offerings.
  • Ensure turnaround times and service standards are met for retail underwriting requests.
  • Liaise with the insurance and technology partners to ensure smooth underwriting process.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Medicine, or a related field.
  • Professional insurance qualifications (ACII, CII, LOMA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 8–12 years of health underwriting experience, with strong exposure to Corporate Group Health in the UAE.
  • Proven leadership or managerial experience in health underwriting.
  • Strong understanding of UAE health insurance regulations and market dynamics
