Job Description

  • Review and verify medication orders to ensure appropriate, safe, and effective therapy, including monitoring for drug interactions, allergies, duplications, omissions, and adverse reactions.
  • Interpret medication orders for clarity, accuracy, compatibility, feasibility, and patient suitability, and recommend formulary alternatives or substitutes when required.
  • Prepare, compound, and dispense sterile and non-sterile medications in compliance with applicable standards, performing accurate dosage calculations for pediatric, IV admixtures, TPN, and chemotherapy therapies.
  • Conduct final checks on prepared medications and maintain accurate dispensing and patient medication records.
  • Provide patient counselling on the safe and proper use of medications. Ensure secure storage, handling, and control of narcotics and controlled drugs, including inspections for safety and expiry.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to promote cost-effective medication use.
  • Respond to medication-related queries, incidents, and adverse drug reactions. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintain equipment functionality and hygiene, and perform assigned shift and operational duties.

Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy (minimum).
  • Current National License.
