Job Summary
The Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with mental health disorders. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring patient safety, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of mental health services within the organization.Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as appropriate.
- Provide psychotherapy, counseling, and crisis intervention when required.
- Monitor patients’ progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Provide psychiatric consultations for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cases.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide timely interventions.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medical records.
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and other clinical staff when applicable.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education activities.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MBBS/MD) or equivalent.
- Saudi Board, Arab Board, or an equivalent Board Certification in Psychiatry.
- Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) registration and classification as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-board experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Strong clinical expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
