Job Summary

The Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with mental health disorders. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring patient safety, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of mental health services within the organization.Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as appropriate.
  • Provide psychotherapy, counseling, and crisis intervention when required.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
  • Provide psychiatric consultations for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cases.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide timely interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medical records.
  • Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and other clinical staff when applicable.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education activities.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MBBS/MD) or equivalent.
  • Saudi Board, Arab Board, or an equivalent Board Certification in Psychiatry.
  • Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) registration and classification as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-board experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Strong clinical expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
