Biomedical Equipment Specialist

Job Description

Purpose of Job:

  • Oversees medical equipment maintenance of the facility Once we have minor / major equipment, responsible for the day-to-day operations, incidents, maintenance, keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities and supervise the calibration plan.
  • Directs maintenance of equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff following all manufacturer guidelines and according to company policy, coordinates with facility management.
  • Performing periodic inspections on site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Creating a detailed maintenance plan for all medical equipment and follow the technical issues with the suppliers.
  • Maintaining tools and test equipment and ensuring they are properly calibrated.
  • Ability to issue, discuss and negotiate an RFP for medical equipment and choose the appropriate type and model.

Functional:

  • Basic troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair on designated equipment.
  • Completing Preventative Maintenance and field modifications.
  • Is required to perform daily rounds and complete the associated checklists consistently and thoroughly
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of medical equipment.

People:

  • Maintaining daily communications with stakeholders to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
  • Follow-up with Procurement team and Biomedical consultant the requirement of the new locations.

Standard:

  • Comply with health & safety, infection control, and accreditation standards.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or related field, an advanced degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of working experience in healthcare organization are required.

Skills:

  • Dental Units and Diagnostic Equipment maintenance experience are preferred
  • Diagnostic Devices (X-Ray, Sonar, … etc) maintenance experience is preferred
  • Applicant must have the ability to Install, maintain and repair biomedical equipment.
  • Familiar with medical equipment documentation.
  • Good with Microsoft Programs.
  • Good command of written and spoken English language.
  • Good Communication Skills

Specific requirements:

  • Perform PPM for medical devices
  • Install, Maintain and Calibrate medical devices
  • Perform demos if requested
  • Managing service tools and spare parts needed
  • Familiarity with various models of medical equipment.
  • May move from one Clinic to another and work after or before work hours if required
