Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

Biomedical Engineer work closely with healthcare professionals, manufacturers, and regulatory bodies to install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain medical equipment such as patient monitors, ventilators, imaging systems, infusion pumps, and laboratory instruments. They also participate in evaluating new technologies, providing technical training, managing equipment inventories, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment across the hospital.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for medical devices to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures in a timely manner.
• Manage medical equipment used in maternity, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care, gynecology, and outpatient services.
• Support specialized equipment such as:
• Fetal monitors (CTG machines)
• Ultrasound systems
• Infant incubators and radiant warmers
• Ventilators
• Infusion and syringe pumps
• Phototherapy units
• Patient monitoring systems
• Breast imaging and mammography equipment
• Conduct equipment safety inspections and performance testing in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, calibration, and equipment inventory.
• Evaluate and recommend new medical technologies and equipment purchases.
• Assist in equipment acceptance testing and commissioning of new devices.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs, annual maintenance contracts, and technical support.
• Provide technical training and user guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff on the proper use of medical equipment.
• Support risk management initiatives by identifying and addressing equipment-related safety concerns.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Participate in medical equipment planning for new units, renovations, and expansion projects.
• Monitor equipment utilization and lifecycle management to support budgeting and replacement planning.
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and department managers to improve clinical workflow and patient safety.
• Assist in emergency preparedness by ensuring critical equipment is available and operational at all times.
• Required experience in departments such as labor & delivery, womens urgent care, postnatal, NICU/PICU etc

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering
