About Candidate
I am applying for the position of Assistant Professor of Microbiology because my academic background, research experience, and laboratory leadership roles strongly align with supporting externally funded projects and strengthening microbiology capabilities. My work in antimicrobial resistance, molecular techniques, bacterial characterisation, and clinical microbiology aligns with Ajman University’s goals of using cutting‑edge laboratory platforms to advance high‑quality research. I am motivated by the University’s emphasis on state‑of‑the‑art technologies and view this role as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to research excellence in the middle east.
Location
Education
My research and laboratory work have equipped me with advanced technical skills relevant to managing a complex mix of microbiological investigations. I have hands‑on experience with bacterial culture, isolation, growth requirements, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, phenotypic resistance profiling, DNA extraction, PCR, and ERIC-PCR. I have conducted extensive studies on antimicrobial resistance and horizontal gene transfer, ensuring high technical accuracy and adherence to laboratory standards.
I maintain a strong understanding of GCLP principles, including organisation, personnel, equipment, reagents, SOPs, analytical plans, data recording, and reporting. My ISO 15189 training enhanced my understanding of laboratory quality standards, structural and process requirements, ethical practices, and the implementation of quality management systems. I apply these principles consistently in laboratory environments to ensure integrity of data and reliability of results. I attended training on the 4 biosafety levels (BSL-1 to -4), focusing on pathogens like Mycobacterium tuberculosis, West Nile virus, and yellow fever virus. For high-risk BSL-3 and -4 labs, safety protocols were stressed, including PPE use, biosafety cabinet procedures, avoiding aerosols, autoclaving, and waste disposal.
Adaptable and have successfully worked across different environments—rural, semi‑urban, urban, and international. I have hands‑on experience working with diverse stakeholders, including clinicians, pharmacists, veterinarians, environmentalists, and administrators.
