To verify all patient information before filling a prescription. • To check prescriptions for correct dosage and for drug interactions and incompatibilities. • Monitoring the near expiry/expired items and arranging the medicines according to their expiry dates (as first expire first out). • Following insurance companies’ policies and procedures. • To dispense, package and label the prescribed medicines. • Storing and preservation of vaccines, serums and other drugs subject to deterioration. • To record prescriptions dispensed, and the issue of poisons, narcotics and other restricted drug • To provide advice and information on the use and effects of medications to the patients.
Liaising with physicians, nurses and other fellow health care professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and economic drug treatment; Counseling patients on the effects, dosage and route of administration of their drug treatments, particularly those who require complex drug therapy & for chronic medications; Communicating effectively with patient’s & their relatives, community pharmacists, general practitioners (GPs), etc.; Monitoring every stage of medication therapy to improve all aspects of delivery and reporting patient side effects; Ensuring medicinal products are stored appropriately and securely to ensure freshness; Ensuring medication reaches the patient in the correct form and dose - this may include tablets, capsules, ointments, injections, inhalers and creams; Being responsible for the accurate dispensing and timely distribution of medicines to the patien
