A Pharmacist is responsible for preparing and dispensing appropriate pharmaceuticals to
patients, ensuring safe and effective medication use. They achieve this by accurately executing
physicians’ orders or assessing and addressing patients’ medication-related needs. Additionally,
they provide guidance on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions,
contributing to optimal patient care. Pharmacists also play a crucial role in maintaining
compliance with regulatory standards, managing inventory, and collaborating with healthcare
professionals to enhance overall treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
| Prescription Review and DispensingReview and execute physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality.Detect therapeutic incompatibilities and resolve them in collaboration with prescribersPrepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patientPatient Care and EducationProvide drug information and education to the patientsEducate patients on medication use, storage, side effects, and interactionsListen carefully to patients to interpret their needs and issues and offer informationand adviceHelp with other medical services such as injections, blood pressure measurements,and temperature measurementsPharmacy OperationsOrganize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster.Maintain full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration.Support and participate in scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory according to organization protocolRecord Keeping and ComplianceKeep records of patient history and of all activities regarding heavy medicationComply with all applicable legal rules, regulations, and proceduresFinancial ResponsibilityHandle payment collection from patients in a responsible manner, ensuring correctallocation of received payment and deposit to the finance teamEnsuring all deposits and outstanding collections are settled in a timely mannerProfessional DevelopmentKeep abreast of advancements in medicine by attending conferences and seminars andcollaborating with other healthcare professionals JCIA-Aligned Safety, Quality, Governance and Professional StandardsSupport sustainability and Global Health Impact (GHI) goals by practicing environmentally responsible care, reducing waste, following proper disposal and segregation processes, using resources efficiently, participating in related training, and reporting opportunities for improvement.Follow all patient safety, quality, infection control and risk-management procedures; report safety events and near misses; participate in workplace violence-prevention training; and escalate concerns using approved communication tools such as Situation–Background–Assessment–Recommendation (SBAR).Participate in emergency drills (fire, Code Blue, major incidents, communicable diseases and pandemics) and understand assigned roles during emergencies.Maintain all required competencies, credentials and licenses, and work strictly within the authorized scope of practice and privileging requirements.Complete documentation accurately and on time according to hospital and Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards, and maintain confidentiality of patient, staff and organizational information.Follow safe medication practices, report medication errors or near misses, and comply with high-alert medication protocols, Look-Alike/Sound-Alike (LASA) precautions and correct medication-storage requirements. Qualifications
| Education & QualificationBachelor’s Degree in pharmacy Registered as a Pharmacist with DHA ExperienceMinimum 2-3 years’ experience in similar field desired.
