Job Summary
NMC Healthcare is seeking an experienced and qualified Consultant Gastroenterologist to provide high-quality, professional, and ethical clinical services. The role involves diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal and liver disorders, delivering comprehensive patient care, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and quality standards, and contributing to continuous quality improvement and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and liver disorders.
- Provide comprehensive consultations, develop treatment plans, and ensure appropriate follow-up care.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, within the scope of practice.
- Manage complex gastroenterology cases and coordinate care with other medical specialties when required.
- Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and adherence to clinical guidelines and hospital policies.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, identify potential risks, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, clinical reports, and patient documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing concerns and explaining diagnoses and treatment options.
- Participate in clinical audits, peer reviews, departmental meetings, and continuing professional development activities.
- Support and guide junior physicians and other healthcare professionals as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Qualified and licensed Medical Practitioner.
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-qualification experience at Consultant level, irrespective of country.
- Minimum 1 year of Consultant-level experience in a Tier 1 country, as specified by the relevant UAE healthcare regulator.
- Basic Medical Degree and completion of a recognized higher education programme (Fellowship/Diploma) accepted by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Speciality certification and registration in Gastroenterology, recognized by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Active and valid life support certification, such as BLS, ACLS, or other relevant certifications, as applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex gastroenterology cases and performing relevant endoscopic procedures, within the scope of practice.
